After showcasing some illustrating chops during my internship at Primer, I was given full creative flexibility with their visual brand. I created a vast library of illustrations, icons, and everything in-between, spearheading the artistic vision for this rapidly-growing startup. My mission was to capture adventure, passion, and childhood wonder, and to inspire children and adults alike to pursue great education.

Primer is building a new education system that takes kids seriously.

While pursuing a gap year in 2020, I joined Primer as their first product design intern. New as I was to the tech industry, I could tell Primer was a gem: the team was warm, spirited, and urgent about improving (the often-flawed) systems of childhood education.

In addition to my product responsibilities, I began assisting with Primer’s brand. It started with loose illustrations presented at standup; soon after, Ryan & Elizabeth greenlit my ideas, and I was offered the reins. Even after I concluded my internship, I continued servicing Primer as an illustrator to help bring their vision to life.

Clubs

Kids on Primer’s platform can join interest-based clubs to learn and connect with other kids. I created a suite of illustrations to represent these clubs.

Pursuits

On Primer, kids can join Pursuits, live challenges ranging from solving murder mysteries to designing magazines! I worked on a variety of illustrations to showcase these Pursuits.
